Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Job SummaryAs a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will utilize high-frequency sound waves to provide diagnostic images of various exams, including abdomen, Ob/Gyn, Vascular, small parts, and neurosonography. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose the absence or presence of disease, while also providing patient education and quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze disease processes using ultrasound techniques and procedures.
- Coordinate patient medical history and ultrasound examination.
- Schedule and instruct patients on ultrasound procedures.
- Review current imaging techniques and interpretations to ensure current information.
- Provide immediate results to medical personnel derived from ultrasound procedures.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and quality assurance.
- Assist sonography students with clinical experience in the department.
- Assist Radiologists and other physicians with interventional procedures.
- Perform detailed OB ultrasounds on 8-14 patients per day in a timely manner.
- Present cases to reading physicians.
- Document appropriately in the US reporting system and electronic medical record.
- Assist co-workers and restock supplies as needed.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one year working in a PACS environment.
- Minimum of one year ultrasound experience.
- Minimum of one year OBGYN experience.
Education:
- Associates Degree in Sonography.
- Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in abdomen and Ob/Gyn or by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Sonography (ARRT(S)).
- OB and general certifications are required.
- CPR certified with a minimum of AHA Heart Saver certification or BLS.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to perform procedures in a portable environment as needed.
- Ability to perform physical requirements (visual and auditory) of the job.
- Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
- Adept with customer service.
- Ability to effectively communicate with physicians.
- Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
