Position Overview:

Nurse practitioners (NPs) deliver comprehensive health care services to individuals experiencing both acute and chronic health issues, as well as those in need of health assessments, preventive care, and educational guidance. NPs operate within Kaiser Permanente's primary care and specialty departments, adhering to established protocols for both outpatient and inpatient settings. They conduct thorough physical assessments, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests. NPs take continuous responsibility for patient care from the initial diagnosis through to recovery, managing both chronic and episodic health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather comprehensive patient histories and subjective data.
  • Perform detailed physical examinations to collect objective data.
  • Formulate accurate assessments and diagnoses.
  • Design and execute effective management plans for patient care.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities and community resources.
  • Prescribe necessary pharmacological treatments.
  • Create and implement educational strategies for patient health.
  • Ensure proper follow-up care is arranged.
  • Uphold compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility, ensuring confidentiality and ethical conduct in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience as an NP or PA, unless otherwise specified by the department.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited RN and NP program or an accredited PA program.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required for NPs.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number, National Nurse Practitioner Certification, California Nurse Practitioner Certificate, and California Registered Nurse License, or
  • California Physician Assistant License and National Physician Assistant Certification.
  • National Provider Identifier.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • Consideration for Physician Assistant job code.
  • Current DEA Registration Number, if applicable.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications, if applicable.
  • New graduate NPs or PAs must obtain the California Furnishing Number and DEA Registration Number within twelve (12) months of hire.
