We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation of investigational doses, managing inventory, and maintaining a high level of technical proficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare investigational doses by reading datasheets, following protocol directions, and documenting thoroughly on investigational cards.
- Demonstrate strong math skills for pharmacy calculations and manage time efficiently to maintain high productivity.
- Manage inventory through supply chain and monitor key inventory parameters to evaluate inventory usage.
- Develop, implement, and document procedures related to receiving, shipping, transfers, returns of inventory, physical counts, and loss prevention.
- Coordinate with suppliers for acquisition and distribution of drugs/supplies and communicate drug availability to staff.
- Maintain inventory security within the pharmacy area and monitor for appropriate use of institutional resources.
- Follow standard operating procedures/safety standards for handling and wasting of hazardous drugs and report and document chemotherapy spills.
- Complete pump assignments, restock, load, unload, and outdate automated dispensing cabinet inventory consistently and accurately.
- Provide floor stock inventory as needed and follow standard operating procedures/safety standards for handling, preparing, and waste disposal of hazardous drugs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Two years of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail pharmacy.
- Preferred experience in IV sterile preparation, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency, pharmacy experience training staff, and experience in a leadership role.
