Overview:
The Eastchester Fire District is seeking a dedicated Custodial Worker for a probationary position. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and order within the facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors. This is a full-time, non-competitive role, subject to a probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors.
- Vacuum carpets and wash windows, blackboards, and restroom fixtures.
- Dust and clean furniture and other surfaces.
- Replenish restroom supplies and manage waste disposal.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
- Assist with kitchen and cafeteria cleaning tasks.
- Ensure windows and doors are secured properly.
- Conduct minor repairs to furniture and fixtures as necessary.
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks related to building systems, such as changing filters and light bulbs.
- Participate in grounds maintenance activities including snow removal and lawn care.
- Execute various errands and custodial tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
- Basic knowledge of heating system operation and maintenance.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Strong understanding of oral and written instructions.
- Dependable, thorough, and capable of performing manual tasks.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Work Schedule:
- Typical hours are from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with potential variations based on operational needs.

Compensation:
- Salary range is competitive and based on experience, aligned with the established salary scale.
