Position Type:

Overview:
The Eastchester Fire District is seeking a dedicated Custodial Worker for its facilities. This role is a 12-month, non-competitive position, subject to a probationary period. Candidates currently holding the title of Custodial Worker may apply for a transfer to this assignment, pending administrative review and approval.

Key Responsibilities:

- Sweep, mop, and wax floors to maintain cleanliness.
- Vacuum carpets and wash windows, blackboards, and restroom fixtures.
- Dust woodwork, furniture, and other surfaces.
- Replenish restroom supplies and empty wastebaskets.
- Collect and dispose of refuse effectively.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
- Assist with heavy tasks in kitchen and cafeteria settings.
- Ensure windows and doors are secured properly.
- Perform minor repairs on furniture and fixtures.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as changing filters and light bulbs.
- Engage in groundskeeping activities, including snow removal and lawn care.
- Carry out various errands and custodial tasks as assigned.
- Adjust thermostats as required.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by supervisory staff.


Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
- Basic knowledge of heating system operation and maintenance.
- Ability to perform minor repairs in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Capacity to follow oral and written instructions.
- Willingness to engage in custodial and manual tasks.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
- Dependable, thorough, and physically capable of fulfilling job duties.

Prerequisite:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Employment Terms:
Hours: 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM, subject to variation based on operational needs.

Salary Range:
