Molecular Laboratory Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Molecular Technologist to contribute to our laboratory team in a clinical setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing molecular diagnostic tests, analyzing DNA/RNA samples, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results.
This position plays a key role in the detection of genetic diseases, infectious agents, and other molecular abnormalities, contributing to patient care and research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform molecular-based testing such as PCR, sequencing, and hybridization assays.
- Analyze and interpret results in compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and process biological samples, including DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and amplification.
- Maintain and troubleshoot molecular laboratory equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, including documentation and reporting of results.
- Collaborate with pathologists, geneticists, and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and reporting.
- Participate in research and development of new assays and techniques.
- Monitor and manage laboratory inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
- Comply with CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by ASCP, or equivalent.
- Experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, sequencing, and electrophoresis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology or related field.
- Experience in clinical molecular diagnostics or a clinical laboratory setting.
- Certification as a Molecular Biology Technologist (MB) by ASCP.
Work Environment:
- Clinical laboratory setting with advanced molecular diagnostic equipment.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on lab needs.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary ranging from $27 - $30/hour.
- Day shift; M-F
