Plant Operations Specialist

Job SummaryThe Plant Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining plant operations, implementing continuous improvement and capital projects, and increasing efficiencies. This position requires a strong understanding of bioprocessing facilities and the ability to work closely with management teams to achieve goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and present capital request projects and economic justifications to site and corporate leadership.
- Identify opportunities for plant improvements and work with engineers to initiate and implement continuous improvement and cost savings projects.
- Complete data analysis and create action plans to optimize process information.
- Assist with facility shutdown planning and execution.
- Exercise problem-solving skills to review operational and troubleshooting challenges with the bioprocessing facility's leadership team.
- Develop advanced knowledge in specific unit operations and become a Subject Matter Expert.
- Support Management of Change and Process Safety Management documentation.
- Assist with creating annual strategic plan initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree or greater in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience in an operating processing plant environment, such as grain processing or chemical processing.
- Prior leadership and project management experience is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of DCS control and DCS historian systems.
- OSHA and EPA regulations knowledge is a plus.

Work EnvironmentPOET values a dynamic work environment where team members can thrive. This role requires up to 50% travel to visit bioprocessing facilities, meetings, and site visits. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the pre-employment process.
