Physician (Psychiatrist) - Mental Health Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps as a Physician (Psychiatrist) in the Behavioral Health Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide treatment services for patients with mental health issues, including examining, diagnosing, and treating diseases affecting mental health.
- Specialize in treating mental illness using the biomedical approach to mental disorders, including psychotherapies.
- Assess, manage, and provide disposition for psychiatric patients, including making arrangements for hospitalization if necessary.
- Provide routine, intensive, complex, and emergency intakes and extended evaluations for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders.
- Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic patients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders.
- Perform initial patient work-up to assess patient care and/or treatment.
- Discriminate between abnormal and normal findings to recognize early stages of physical, emotional, and/or mental problems.
- Complete required records pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
- Exercise independent judgment with full responsibility for professional diagnosis, treatment, referral, and disposition of patients.
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body.
- Must have at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting.
- Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Must have at least 5 years of residency training in the specialty of Psychiatry or equivalent experience and training.
