Position Overview:

The College Credit Plus (CCP) English Composition Instructor is responsible for developing, managing, and engaging in diverse educational environments that empower students to reach their maximum potential and fulfill their academic goals.

This role involves collaborating with fellow educators and staff to enhance the overall success of the department and the institution, while addressing the collective and individual needs of both faculty and students.

This position focuses on teaching English Rhetoric and Composition, with an emphasis on fostering relationships with high school students, educators, and guidance counselors.


Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Learning

Deliver assigned courses as scheduled, taking full responsibility for the curriculum in alignment with departmental policies, ensuring program rigor and instructional quality.

Design inclusive curricula that embrace diversity, fostering student talent while employing effective teaching strategies that acknowledge the socio-cultural contexts of underrepresented groups.

Identify students with academic needs and provide appropriate resources to support their learning.

Utilize technology effectively to enhance course objectives and clearly communicate expectations to students regarding its use.

Maintain accurate records in accordance with the Faculty Handbook and departmental guidelines, including attendance and grading.

Create comprehensive syllabi that meet departmental and institutional standards.

Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the established schedule.

Develop and implement assessment techniques to evaluate student performance in achieving course objectives.


Student Engagement & Advisement

Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes active learning, collaboration, and academic challenge.

Maintain regular office hours to support student engagement and communication.

Encourage a sense of community among students, both in and out of the classroom.

Advise students on program options, career pathways, and transfer opportunities to facilitate degree completion.

Refer students to appropriate academic support services as needed.


Continuous Improvement

Engage in ongoing professional development by maintaining instructional materials and contributing to curriculum development.

Participate in performance evaluations and required training to enhance educational effectiveness.

Share best practices with colleagues and engage in departmental or institutional research to improve teaching and learning.

Provide constructive feedback regarding departmental operations and attend faculty meetings as required.

Set professional development goals through self-assessment and participate in relevant training programs.

Maintain necessary professional credentials and continuing education as required by disciplinary standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Master's degree in English and at least one year of college teaching experience.

Preferred: Master's degree in English with a focus on Rhetoric and Composition, and completion of a graduate-level course in Rhetoric and Composition.


Compensation:

$63.00 per contact hour.


Additional Information:

This position involves teaching College Credit Plus classes and may require early morning classes. Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and relevant transcripts with their application.
