About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Library Assistant I to join our team at the Biane Library in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to children and families, creating engaging experiences, and contributing to the development of our children's museum and discovery space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service as a play facilitator at the Randall Lewis Second Story and Beyond children's museum/discovery center, connecting families with discovery experiences based on literacy themes.
  • Assist with planning and presenting children's programming, including reading stories, singing songs, and hands-on activities.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming, organized, clean, and fun space for children and families.
  • Stay aware and up-to-date on children's museums and discovery space trends to enhance the community's experience.
  • Create graphics and marketing materials to promote our programs and services.
  • Help maintain safe library and museum spaces, adhering to our policies and code of conduct.
  • Handle ticket sales and cash procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science, six units of college-level technical library courses, or one year of library experience.
  • Knowledge of library work principles and practices, including the use of library indexes, catalogs, and simple reference sources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish cooperative working relationships with the public, especially children.
