Position Title: Patient Care Assistant (PCA) PRN
Role Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for delivering fundamental patient support to ensure the comfort, hygiene, and safety of all individuals under care, spanning from neonates to geriatric patients. Responsibilities are typically delegated by a Registered Nurse (RN).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Measure and document vital signs accurately.
2. Track Intake & Output and record dietary consumption.
3. Provide general hygiene assistance as necessary, which may involve bathing, changing linens, oral care, and dressing patients.
4. Conduct rounds on assigned patients at least every two hours or as required.
5. Ensure a safe environment for patients and adhere to guidelines for those at risk of falls.
6. Reposition patients every two hours or as directed by the RN or based on patient needs.
7. Respond promptly to call lights.
8. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the RN.
Additional Expectations:
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures relevant to the role, including employee handbooks, departmental guidelines, and compliance standards.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all external (patients, families, etc.) and internal (co-workers, other departments, physicians, etc.) stakeholders.
- Engage in staff meetings and participate in hospital committees or teams as necessary.
- Execute duties in an effective, organized, and accountable manner.
- Maintain a respectful, courteous, and compassionate demeanor in all interactions and exhibit a positive attitude.
- Show initiative and take ownership of responsibilities, demonstrating self-motivation.
- Pass competency and proficiency assessments as required by the department or hospital.
- Adapt to changing work assignments and be comfortable serving a diverse community.
- Keep knowledge and skills updated through educational activities, in-services, and other training, ensuring certifications remain current.
- Promote nursing and hospital services within the service delivery area.
- Perform well under pressure involving patients, families, physicians, and workload demands.
- Report or update nursing staff or management on patient care concerns or issues for resolution or monitoring.
- Maintain communication through home and/or message telephone and provide coverage for other staff as needed.
- Carry out related duties, including assignments to other units or offices as required.
Shift Details: Schedule varies.
Experience Requirement: CNA certification is mandatory.
