Mental Health Technician Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at COMHAR, Inc. in Easton, PA. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing supportive counseling and psychoeducational groups to individuals with serious mental illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual supportive counseling and psychoeducational groups using therapeutic interventions and cultural competence.
  • Assist with personal hygiene and ADLs, as well as tasks necessary for maintaining a therapeutic community and residence.
  • Conduct activities with residents, including educational, social, and leisure programs, incorporating resident input and suggestions.
  • Document progress notes and residential logs, reporting any resident crisis or unusual incidents to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions, including Quality Improvement Program and multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.

Requirements:

  • AA in human services + 2 years MH/MR related experience;
  • High School/GED + 4 years of Mental Health / Intellectual Disability related experience required;
  • Valid driver's license required;
  • Previous experience working with individuals involved with the criminal justice system and those with substance use disorders.
