Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team on a per diem basis. As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to execute routine Occupational Therapy programs and administer treatments to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Occupational Therapy treatments to patients, including Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and upper extremity exercises.
  • Perform functional evaluations as permitted under the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) role delineation policy, and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Instruct patients regarding proper dress and positioning for therapy procedures.
  • Maintain an orderly work area and fabricate adaptive and orthotic equipment.
  • Participate in departmental educational programs and staff education and orientation programs.
  • Carry out job consistent with the SJMC mission and values.
Requirements

  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant accepted by the State of Texas
  • Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area
  • The ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer knowledge
