Job Description

The Diagnostic Radiological Technologist is a certified healthcare professional responsible for applying the art and science of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient clinical history and lab work, documenting information for licensed practitioners.
  • Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Verify informed consent and complete pre and post-procedure documentation.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures, applying appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed.
  • Perform timeout as required per policy.
  • Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications/contrast as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Receive, relay, and document verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Document patient dose exposures.
  • Professionally interact with physicians, technologists, physician offices, hospital staff, patient family members, and patients.
