Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Pediatric Endocrinology team at Stamford Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patient schedules and organize patient flow to ensure efficient and timely care.
  • Greet patients, document their concerns and questions, and prepare them for physical exams.
  • Conduct initial patient interviews, review medical profiles, and document all required charting in the EMR or manual charting as appropriate.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, weight, and report any abnormalities to the physician.
  • Assist with specimen collection and testing as necessary, and document pertinent information.
  • Provide minor treatment as directed by the physician and assist with minor procedures.
  • Provide education to patients and their families as indicated, after evaluating their learning needs.
  • Schedule patient testing and pre-certify if insurance requires.
  • Respond to telephone messages from patients, physician offices, and other healthcare providers.
  • End of month checks for expired supplies and medication, and stocks rooms/maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms.
  • Orders supplies as needed, and cleans and prepares exam/procedure rooms for the next patient and physician needs.
  • Notifies patients of test results, as per physician instruction, and follows up as necessary.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.
  • Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with employees and other managers of the healthcare team.
  • Respects and protects the patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy, and discloses information only for professional purposes that are in the patient's best interests.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in CT.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
