Job Title: Clinical Psychologist

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at a correctional facility in Represa, CA.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified Clinical Psychologist to provide mental health services to inmates at our correctional facility. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations and be able to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Responsibilities:
  1. Consult with treatment team members and CDCR institutional health care personnel to develop and implement treatment plans.
  2. Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTT) meetings.
  3. Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
  4. Apply community standard of practices for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
  5. Perform mental status exams (MSE) in face-to-face clinical interviews.
  6. Examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, and court records to assist in the formulation of patient's diagnosis and aid in the development of the inmate's treatment plans.
  7. Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender patient-inmates.
  8. Assist patient-inmates in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
  9. Facilitate patient-inmates transition between various settings within the institution.
  10. Perform pre-release functions for releasing patient-inmates, to include patient education, while facilitating transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
  11. Perform medical social functions as needed, particularly in CTC setting.
  12. Participate in IDTT meetings.
  13. Compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements.
  14. Provide information (i.e. appointment documentation, no-shows, etc.) to support staff for data entry.
  15. Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
  16. Provide relatives/caregivers with information concerning patients in person, by phone, or by correspondence as approved by the supervisor and only after receiving the patient-inmate's signed release of information for that specific individual.
  17. Develop a therapeutic relationship with the patient-inmates, families, and caretakers, as assigned by the supervisor, in order to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  18. Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters related to clinical social work.
  19. Protect and maintain safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control of psychological testing material, reference material, computers, and other equipment.
  20. Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility in order to prevent escapes or injury by these persons to themselves or others.
