Job Summary:

This Diesel Technician/Mechanic role at Penske is focused on delivering exceptional service to our customers who require roadside assistance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various maintenance issues on trucks in all weather conditions, ensuring the highest level of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to road assist calls and repair units by identifying and determining necessary parts replacements and warrantable repairs.
  • Perform diagnostics and non-road assist call repairs as needed.
  • Restock the rapid assist vehicle with tools, parts, tires, and other essential items.
  • Perform maintenance or repairs to the road assist vehicle as required.
  • Assist with designated in-shop repairs as directed by the supervisor.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational/Technical or certification is preferred.
  • Specialized training in vehicle component repair and replacement is preferred.
  • Proficiency in shop tools is required.
  • A current CDL license with air brake certification is required.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems are preferred.
  • Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions is required.
  • The associate must understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
  • The associate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • The associate is required to use their hands on a routine and daily basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or otherwise operate required tools or controls.
  • The associate must be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms.
  • The associate must be able to safely work in all weather conditions.
  • The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
