About the Role

HORNE is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our team. As a Tax Associate, you will be responsible for a wide variety of accounting and consulting assignments under the supervision of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and analyze financial transactions in schedules using computer and software programs.
  • Prepare financial calculations and models to support business decisions.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel, including data entry, accumulation, and maintenance.
  • Document work performed and summarize findings to support business decisions.
  • Prepare written reports and sections to be included in a report.
  • Assist in proofing schedules, calculations, work papers, reports, and other documents.
  • Perform other duties as needed in projects and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Provide exceptional client service, adding value to clients' businesses and learning cross-selling opportunities.
  • Accept responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and maintenance in all aspects of accounting and consulting services.
  • Learn through Performance Advisor proper delegation and management of workload and demonstrate ability to properly delegate and manage workload.
  • Assist in marketing the Firm and recruiting entry-level and experienced staff as needed.

Work Environment

Work will be performed in a HORNE office setting or remotely.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • Must be CPA eligible and actually working towards obtaining license.
  • If already CPA, must be a member in good standing with the AICPA and respective state societies.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency with computer and spreadsheet software programs, or software appropriate to practice area.
  • Encouraged to join a community association related to his/her field after first year of employment with Mentor approval prior to joining.
  • Assumes individual responsibility to learn all new technology introduced by the Firm as appropriate for service/practice area.
