Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program Leader

The Program Chair is a key leadership position within the School of Nursing at Touro University. This role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, ensuring it meets the highest standards of academic excellence and clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the program in achieving positive outcomes, growth, and development in accordance with current standards.
- Participate in program development initiatives, such as grant writing and scholarship opportunities, in collaboration with the Director.
- Work closely with the Director to ensure that all criteria pertaining to the program are met, including state and national standards (BRN, CCNE/accreditation, AACN, NONPF).
- Hold responsibility and accountability for program-related budget and spending in collaboration with the Director.
- Ensure that the curriculum is developed, revised, and evaluated according to program learning outcomes, state, and national standards.
- Measure and monitor program quality through review of student evaluations and faculty input in collaboration with the Director.
- Actively engage in the student admissions process and recruitment of a qualified, diversified, and balanced student body.
- Play a key role in hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty for the program in collaboration with the Assistant Dean.
- Engage in teaching part-time for the program, according to workload, SON, CEHS, and TUC policies.
- Maintain relations with clinical agencies, affiliate organizations, and preceptors as appropriate.
- Hold regular faculty meetings/workgroups within the department.
- Collaborate with the Program Administrator for key program tasks and projects.
- Support IPE development/curriculum for the program and at the College and University level.
- Engage in appropriate committees across CEHS/TUC as the program lead.
- Manage Faculty workload and course assignments.
- Monitor and Evaluate Faculty course performance.
- Oversee total Student clinical hour/project completion.
- Maintain personal and professional development as an educator, clinician, and leader for the program.
- Maintain clinical experience as appropriate to the role.
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree, with a Master of Science in Nursing or higher degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program. A minimum of 2 years cumulative clinical experience as an NP in the applied specialty is required, with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the graduate level preferred. The candidate must hold an active and unencumbered NP license in the state of California and national certification as an FNP and/or PMHNP.
