Job Summary

As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse (RN). Your primary responsibility will be to meet patient care needs through the use of the nursing process, ensuring that patients of different age groups receive age-related interventions as assigned by the RN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement psychosocial interventions, assist with basic activities of daily living (ADLs), and maintain program function, including meal supervision and patient safety checks.
  • Conduct therapeutic interventions with patients exhibiting significant disturbances in emotional, cognitive, and physical behaviors, and facilitate or co-facilitate therapeutic group processes.
  • Perform data collection and physical examinations for patients, participate in the planning of care, and implement interventions in collaboration with the RN.
  • Support patient and family through empathetic interaction and education within the scope of practice, and foster patient participation in the program environment.
Requirements
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Two years' experience in a behavioral healthcare setting: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification: Preferred
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Department Specific License/Certifications
  • Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Required
