Position Overview
As a member of the custodial team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of various facilities owned by the District. This role encompasses a range of standardized cleaning tasks essential for the upkeep of our buildings.
Supervision
In this position, you will receive guidance and technical instructions from a lead custodian. Oversight will be provided by a Building Administrator or site-based supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, and emptying waste receptacles.
- Sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and hallways.
- Manage waste disposal from classrooms and common areas.
- Maintain specialized flooring, including gymnasium surfaces.
- Ensure security by locking facilities at designated times.
- Execute floor maintenance tasks including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Exhibit regular and punctual attendance.
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
- Ability to learn about cleaning agents and equipment.
- Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions independently.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- Good physical condition to perform manual labor tasks.
- Understanding of safe work practices.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with students and staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Education sufficient to read and follow simple instructions. Previous custodial experience is not required. Bilingual skills and multicultural experience are preferred.
