Sierra Space, a leader in the aerospace sector, is dedicated to designing and manufacturing advanced spacecraft, including the Dream Chaser spaceplane, and other innovative solutions for both governmental and commercial clients.



Key Responsibilities:
Provide a visionary approach to operations that fosters a culture of empowerment and accountability.
Develop and enhance operational practices that promote accountability, scalability, stability, and continuous improvement.

Ensure alignment of operations teams across various practices and technologies into a unified standard operating model.

Design strategic frameworks for application architecture, integration strategies, governance, quality assurance, and business support processes.

Oversee project execution while ensuring teams possess the necessary product knowledge, technical specifications, and resources to meet project timelines.

Build and nurture high-performing teams through effective leadership, mentoring, and professional development.
Establish training and certification standards for all operational personnel.

Define key performance indicators and foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and quality.

Proactively identify integration opportunities across the organization.
Collaborate with business analysts to plan and execute the annual budgeting process.
Ensure adherence to the strategic annual operational plan.

Support the formulation and implementation of both short- and long-term operational strategies for all manufacturing functions, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving circumstances and ensuring success in major operational metrics: Safety, Quality, and Schedule Realization.

Set individual performance targets for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity improvements, collaborating with teams to establish regular performance audits.

Participate in strategic technology initiatives to provide operational requirements for IT enhancements.
Develop contingency strategies for potential business disruptions.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
At least 15 years of relevant experience in senior-level production and manufacturing leadership roles.
Experience with complex composite airframe prototype development is essential.

Proven ability to lead a large, multidisciplinary team, including shop floor technicians, manufacturing engineers, and program managers.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to build strong relationships are crucial.
A proactive, innovative mindset with a strong problem-solving capability is desired.

Comprehensive knowledge of management practices and policy interpretation is necessary, enabling independent evaluation and application of techniques and standards.

Experience in strategic planning and budgeting is preferred.

Additional Requirements:
The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be necessary.

Physical and Working Conditions:
Regularly engage in walking, sitting, standing, and climbing.
Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 25 lbs.
Minimal exposure to outdoor elements and hazardous materials.
