Certified Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Phlebotomist Specimen Processor to join our team at SCL Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect patient specimens using venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick techniques, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
- Determine the correct priority for STAT, Routine, ASAP, and other specimen collections, ensuring timely transport and processing of all patient specimens.
- File patient lab reports, requisition charges for the business office, and send reports to outside hospitals and clinics, maintaining accurate records and logs.
- Perform complex specimen setup, enter complex orders and results, pack and ship infectious materials, and communicate special situations related to specimens or testing with staff and management.
- Clean and maintain equipment, centrifuges, and refrigerators, recording daily temperatures and ordering supplies as needed.
- Assist in the training of new associates and students, and act as a receptionist, greeting patients and answering phones within the laboratory.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification from a recognized phlebotomy organization, such as RPT, AMT, or ASCP, is mandatory.
- Preferred: Six months of laboratory experience.
This role requires regular attendance, the ability to interact with patients and staff, and the capacity to operate complex lab equipment. The successful candidate must be able to stand for long periods, walk while transporting equipment, and adjust their body to perform phlebotomy work.
