Position Overview

Salary: $14-16/hr based on experience

Role: Community Engagement Coordinator

Department: Community Services

Classification: Part-Time, Hourly (20 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of Mount Pleasant Community Church by efficiently managing the daily operations of community involvement and assisting the Campus Pastor.

Core Duties:

  1. Serve as the main recruiter and trainer for volunteers in hospitality and group activities.
  2. Collaborate with central ministry leaders to establish best practices in community engagement.
  3. Facilitate the placement of individuals interested in joining groups and manage communication with group leaders and staff.
  4. Provide ongoing training and support for volunteers.
  5. Oversee the connections process, including the discovery and placement of individuals interested in serving or joining groups.
  6. Assist the Campus Pastor with planning, organization, and administrative tasks.
  7. Lead and implement projects and initiatives on behalf of the Campus Pastor.
  8. Participate in staff and departmental meetings as necessary.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills with both paid and volunteer staff.
  3. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  4. Demonstrated experience in recruiting and developing volunteer leaders.
  5. Background in ministry within a medium to large church environment.
  6. Experience in a multi-site church setting is advantageous.
  7. Self-motivated leader with strong relational skills.
  8. Basic proficiency in presentation and Google Workspace tools.
  9. Familiarity with database software (training provided).
  10. Undergraduate degree preferred.
