Position Overview
The Lead Human Resources Specialist role reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and encompasses a variety of regional HR responsibilities.

  • Accountable for addressing employee relations challenges and conducting comprehensive, impartial investigations. Collaborates closely with management to establish suitable resolutions and outcomes.
  • Partners with management to effectively resolve issues related to policy interpretation, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and separations.
  • Administers and clarifies labor agreements and grievance processes.
  • Supports the management of the company's benefits offerings, including the delivery and communication of benefit plans during New Hire Orientation and Open Enrollment periods.
  • Oversees the management of leave of absence programs.
  • Conducts employee exit interviews.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of new initiatives, plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinates the recruitment process for both exempt and non-exempt roles alongside the HR Assistant and hiring managers.
  • Develops and proposes innovative strategies, programs, and policies that enhance the selection and retention of high-performing teams.
  • Fosters strong relationships across all organizational levels and maintains a positive rapport with both employees and management.
  • Assists in the development of a comprehensive database of job descriptions and role specifications.
  • Supports the execution of annual performance evaluations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position necessitates a profound understanding of human resources functions throughout the employee lifecycle, as well as familiarity with labor regulations.

The Lead Human Resources Specialist serves as an advocate for the organization and its policies while supporting the staff. This role demands a balanced temperament, an impartial approach, meticulous attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications Specific Requirements (items are required unless otherwise noted)

  • Bachelor's degree or SHRM/HRCI Certification is preferred
  • Three to five years of generalist experience with a focus on Employee Relations is required
  • Must possess full-cycle recruitment experience
  • Experience in a unionized environment is advantageous
  • Familiarity with UKG is a plus
  • Must exhibit flexibility in job responsibilities and adapt to a dynamic environment committed to delivering exceptional service to all employees
  • Ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to engage with all levels of staff and management
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have knowledge of HR administration principles, policies, procedures, and employment law.
