Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Aide to join our team at The Gathering Place Drop-In Center in Brooklyn. As a Residential Aide, you will play a critical role in providing support services to homeless men and women, helping them to stabilize their lives and transition into permanent housing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and ensure confidentiality
  • Practice Universal Precautions and follow facility policies
  • Update clients on program changes and provide individual and group support
  • Assist with client bed-check and conduct dorm inspections
  • Monitor client behavior and report changes to Supervisor and social services staff
  • Provide personal care products and laundry services to clients
  • Sort, count, and bag bed linens, blankets, and towels
  • Distribute clean linens and towels to clients
  • Monitor laundry facilities and report any issues
  • Strip and store client belongings
  • Escort clients as needed
  • Check food deliveries and report any issues
  • Prepare kitchen and dining facilities for mealtimes
  • Heat and serve prepared foods
  • Store food according to facility policies
  • Prepare paper goods and condiments for mealtimes
  • Set up coffee and hot water urns
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Participate in Department of Health Food Protection 15 hour Course and become a certified Food Handler
  • Obtain Annual PPD Test
  • May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified
  • May be required to become certified in overdose prevention
  • Bi-lingual preferred
