We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist to join our team at Corewell Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing accurate and efficient ultrasound exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient identification and physician orders
- Provide procedural information and education to patients and families
- Acquire accurate patient histories and document in medical records
- Perform ultrasound and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods
- Operate ultrasound imaging equipment and perform quality control and quality assurance testing
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure patient safety
- Review ultrasound images with radiologists as necessary
- Ensure STAT requests are relayed to radiologists in a timely manner
- Assist with procedures using sterile technique and receive and document samples for lab processing
- Dispose of fluids according to biohazard protocols
- Ensure equipment is wiped down between patients and exam rooms are clean and properly stocked
- Accurately and efficiently use hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and sending information to PACs
- Use effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participate with medical staff, management, technical, and support staff
- Assist in training new staff and students
- Verify correct patient, correct exam, and final verification, and clarify questionable orders with ordering physicians or radiologists
- Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent
- Registered by American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registry eligible, paid at the trainee rate for up to 1 year
- Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire through the American Heart Association
