RETAIL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Role Overview:
The Retail Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in embodying the Morris Furniture Co., Inc (and Ashley HomeStore) brand, ensuring a positive representation of our company and products to attract customers in our showrooms. Responsibilities may include visual merchandising, furniture and accessory movement on the sales floor, maintaining cleanliness in common areas, assisting with customer pick-ups, conducting inventory counts, tagging items, painting, and performing general store maintenance, as well as engaging with customers and answering phone inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interprets CADs (store layout design maps), work orders, shipping orders, and follows verbal or written directives from the Visual or General Manager.
  • Confirms merchandise arrival at the store using company software to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborates with the Visual Merchandiser to prepare the sales floor for incoming deliveries, ensuring items are placed according to provided floor plans.
  • Adjusts lighting for optimal visual presentation, which may involve using a lift or standing on a ladder.
  • Unpacks, assembles, positions, and performs minor repairs on furniture, attaching identifying tags or labels in coordination with other departments.
  • Facilitates the transportation, loading, and unloading of merchandise to designated areas using hand trucks, carts, dollies, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Assists customers with pick-up services, verifying order details through company software and providing excellent customer service throughout the process.
  • Conducts daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks, including restrooms, common areas, windows, entrances, and parking lots, along with trash removal.
  • Identifies safety opportunities and adheres to all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage.
  • Performs store maintenance tasks, including painting walls.
  • Tags merchandise accurately.
  • Provides customer and showroom support, including answering phone calls.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Safety-focused approach to all tasks.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record, capable of traveling to various store locations as needed.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds while loading/unloading furniture and operating powered equipment, hand trucks, and carts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Competence in assembling furniture and other merchandise.
  • Quick hand and arm movements for grasping, manipulating, or assembling objects when handling or moving furniture.
  • Experience with powered equipment, warehouse machinery, and hand/power tools is preferred.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Positive attitude and work ethic.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee will be required to unpack products from shipping boxes, assemble items, and move them to the appropriate showroom locations for display.
