Transportation Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Van Driver to join our team at Linn-Mar Community School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting students and staff to and from schools and other designated locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate District vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, following established routes and schedules.
- Provide a secure and comfortable environment for passengers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Comply with all Federal and State laws, traffic regulations, and Board Policies.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness.
- Manage student behavior, implementing strategies to promote positive discipline and safety.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and management, reporting any incidents or concerns.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance driving skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid Iowa Class D Chauffeur license and passenger endorsement.
- Ability to read maps, follow directions, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of Federal and State traffic laws, as well as District policies and procedures.
Work Environment: This role involves frequent driving, occasional walking, and sustained periods of sitting. The work environment is typically loud, with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures. Drivers must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with regular communication with management and colleagues.
