Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our Department of Dental Hygiene at the University of South Dakota. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of dental hygienists.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and instruct dental hygiene students in the care of patients
  • Provide laboratory, pre-clinical, and clinical instruction to dental hygiene students
  • Assist students in generating comprehensive treatment and prevention/management plans for their patients
  • Work with staff, students, and patients to ensure high-quality care and a clinical education that meets departmental standards
  • Support all clinical policies and procedures of the University of South Dakota
  • Attend department meetings to stay current with departmental policies, teaching methods, and best practices
  • Additional responsibilities may include committee assignments and service
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree
  • Current South Dakota License or eligibility for licensure
  • South Dakota Certification to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
  • In good standing with the State of South Dakota Board of Dentistry
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Dental Hygiene or related field or current enrollment in a graduate program
  • 5 or more years of clinical experience
  • Experience in preclinical or clinical teaching at an accredited Dental Hygiene Program
