Fair Housing Program Analyst

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role involves performing advanced research, policy development, and data analysis within the Housing Resource Center (HRC) division. Responsibilities include addressing inquiries related to affordable housing and community services through various communication channels, as well as preparing ongoing performance and production reports for the Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support fair housing initiatives by planning, developing, and implementing protocols and databases to manage and evaluate fair housing activities.
  • Act as Administrative Support Staff for the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless, serving as a liaison between the Department and various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quarterly meetings for the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless.
  • Oversee the stewardship of the TICH State Plan to Address Homelessness and assist in producing the TICH Annual Report.
  • Conduct public hearings and incorporate feedback into the TICH plan as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing written summaries, documents, and statistical reports for the HRC division.
  • Organize and analyze fair housing-related data, applying both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Engage in activities related to fair housing grants received by the division.
  • Research federal and state regulations impacting fair housing and related Department activities.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding housing assistance and community services.
  • Manage data systems to support fair housing certifications and compliance with relevant laws.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in government, public administration, community planning, social work, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in affordable housing or fair housing is preferred.
  • Experience in research, planning, and policy analysis is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with databases and data management, including performance reporting, is beneficial.
  • Strong report writing skills are essential.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislative processes and governmental planning principles.
  • Understanding of fair housing laws and concepts.
  • Exceptional writing skills for producing high-quality reports.
  • Research proficiency with the ability to analyze complex data.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a standard office setting, requiring the ability to communicate effectively and manage various office tasks. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours may be necessary.
