Position Overview: Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist is a credentialed professional recognized by the NBRC, responsible for delivering respiratory care to patients in various settings, adhering to AdaptHealth's established protocols. The care provided will encompass preventive, rehabilitative, and palliative measures. The Respiratory Therapist will leverage all available resources within the organization and the community to meet care objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure thorough completion of all documentation and charting in compliance with ACHC standards and company policies.
  • Review and update Plans of Treatment and Care Plans for accuracy.
  • Document patient procedures, including tolerance levels, side effects, and relevant information.
  • Assist in obtaining authorizations for CPAP/BiPAP referrals.
  • Exhibit proficiency in respiratory equipment and apply this knowledge effectively in clinical scenarios.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills for equipment in the field.
  • Manage inventory control for CPAP/BiPAP supplies.
  • Apply assessment skills and clinical expertise during patient set-ups, follow-ups, and training sessions.
  • Contribute to discharge planning for complex cases.
  • Conduct clinical assessments as required and communicate findings to referring physicians.
  • Prepare for and participate in the discharge process to ensure a seamless transition for patients and caregivers.
  • Provide training to hospital staff and other professionals regarding equipment and clinical issues.
  • Maintain communication with physicians and referrals regarding patient progress, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Adhere to protocols for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Be available for on-call duties outside of regular business hours as per company policy.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Valid and unrestricted RT clinical license in all states serviced, or an Associate's degree in Nursing with a valid LPN or RN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist or in a nursing role with ventilator experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
