About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at L3Harris Technologies in Orange, VA. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the success of our space and defense propulsion programs.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing quality engineering methods to ensure customer specifications and engineering requirements are effectively met. Under general direction, they will perform quality engineering assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories, and concepts in the field, as well as a working knowledge of other related disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide innovative, thorough, and practical solutions to technical challenges involving conventional utilization of quality engineering techniques. Conceive and plan projects involving the development of new methods of dimensional inspection objectives, reviewing engineering designs and specifications for translation into inspection verification methods.
  • Quality Guidance: Review manufacturing process planning to ensure compliance with drawing, specification, and contractual requirements. Provide technical guidance to less senior quality engineers, inspection, manufacturing, and test personnel.
  • Corrective Action: Develop, implement, and review corrective action and process improvements by benchmarking practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Perform failure mode effect analysis of product design disclosure documents and specifications, utilizing inspection analysis tools and six sigma principles.
  • Instrumentation Adequacy: Determine gage and instrumentation adequacy, gage R & R studies to determine process capabilities, needs, and future usage.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior quality engineering experience. A Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0-2 years of prior quality engineering experience is also acceptable. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of prior quality engineering experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering is preferred. Successful candidates should be detail-oriented, experienced in conducting root cause analysis, and recommending data-driven corrective actions. CQE or LEAN/Six Sigma certifications are strongly desired. Aerospace industry experience with AS9100, ISO9001 is preferred. Experience working with and around chemicals and/or explosives is also preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of software is necessary.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
