Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Senior Distribution Engineer to join our Power Delivery Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical distribution systems for our utility clients. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the quality and reliability of our work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
  • Review and assess client requirements and scopes.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, guying calculations, and voltage drop and flicker analysis.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies using engineering principles and design.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant electric distribution design engineering experience working with electric utilities.
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or closely related discipline.
  • Prior experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, or similar.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in NESC standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation, and GIS.
  • Structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
  • Work management software and job estimating software.
  • CAD tools.
