Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Development
    • Provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for all children.
    • Foster creativity, engagement, excitement, and curiosity.
    • Plan and provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
    • Plan and implement weekly lesson plans.
    • Conduct quarterly child development assessments.
    • Partner with co-teachers to implement best teaching practices.
  • Relationship Building and Communications
    • Build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
    • Work cohesively with classroom co-teachers and colleagues.
    • Be an excellent and transparent communicator.
  • Leadership
    • Experienced in managing and leading an Early Childhood Education Classroom as a Lead Teacher.
    • Think proactively and have excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
Requirements
  • For Candidates Without an Associate's Degree
    • Must qualify with a total of 30 general college credit hours AND 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education/Child Development from birth to age 6 or an equivalent Child Development Associate Certification (CDA).
    • Must have completed 15 certified hours of Gateways to Opportunity Continuing Education Units.
    • Must have current Membership to Gateways to Opportunity.
    • Must have current CPR/First Aid Certification (or complete through Loyola during the first 30 days of employment).
    • Food Handling certification.
  • For Candidates with an Associate's Degree
    • Must meet the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Early Childhood Education teacher requirements.
    • Must have 60 college credit hours (with 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education/Child Development from birth to age 6).
    • Must have current Membership to Gateways to Opportunity.
    • Must have current CPR/First Aid Certification (or complete through Loyola during the first 30 days of employment).
    • Food Handling certification.
  • Preferred
    • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
