Job Overview

Position Summary

The Head Chef will oversee the efficient operation of the kitchen during their designated shifts. This role ensures that culinary creations are executed to the highest standards and involves training staff to meet the establishment's quality benchmarks.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000-$90,000, with actual compensation dependent on budgetary considerations and individual experience. All salaried positions are eligible for performance bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and coverage for various dining venues as needed.
  • Manage the flow of breakfast, lunch, or dinner service during assigned shifts.
  • Facilitate the Culinary apprenticeship program through coaching and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the Stewarding department's activities.
  • Engage with the restaurant manager regarding staff performance, guest feedback, special requests, and menu adjustments.
  • Train kitchen staff to meet established performance standards.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all kitchen personnel.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the Engineering Department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen production and storage areas.
  • Communicate any deviations from standards to the Executive Chef.
  • Assist in crafting menu descriptions for new dishes and ensure timely communication with Front of House staff.
  • Support the production of menu items.
  • Contribute to menu development across all dining outlets.
  • Assist with inventory management.
  • Prioritize food cost considerations in menu planning and pricing strategies.
  • Input new menu items into the culinary management system.
  • Schedule and monitor staffing levels in alignment with budget and operational demands.
  • Oversee culinary payroll processes.
  • Inspect product quality and pricing to ensure optimal value.
  • Ensure the use of approved vendors whenever feasible.
  • Assist team members in organizing kitchen supplies, including dry goods, equipment, storage containers, and cleaning materials, while ensuring proper rotation and organization of food deliveries.
