POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves the upkeep and repair of stationary steam boilers and associated equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment malfunctions, disassembling and reassembling components, and calibrating systems to meet operational standards. The specialist will also be involved in the installation of new units and the promotion of preventive maintenance programs, as well as service and repair parts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving and interpreting work orders, blueprints, or technical drawings from supervisors.
- Assessing job requirements and ensuring that necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available.
- Diagnosing equipment issues through customer interviews and utilizing monitoring tools.
- Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling units as necessary.
- Unpacking and assembling new units according to specifications.
- Training customer personnel on equipment operation.
- Cleaning boilers and auxiliary equipment or directing others to do so.
- Inspecting and repairing boiler fittings and auxiliary machinery.
- Replacing damaged components and performing maintenance tasks.
- Conducting water pressure tests to identify leaks.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training preferred.
- A minimum of six years in a related field or three years with technical training.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a noisy environment.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read and understand instructions and communicate effectively. Proficiency in basic mathematics is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform various physical tasks. Candidates must be comfortable working in diverse environments, including exposure to mechanical parts and varying weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role involves working near moving machinery and in potentially hazardous conditions. Safety protocols must be adhered to at all times.
