Job Title: Office Assistant - Pob Diabetes Suite

Job Summary:

The Office Assistant plays a vital role in the ambulatory setting, performing a variety of duties that include greeting, registering, scheduling, and checking out patients on a computerized practice management system. This position requires excellent customer service skills, as the Office Assistant will interact with patients in person and over the phone. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the practice staff and the Physician(s) to provide a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Register patients into the practice management system, communicate with insurance companies, and obtain referrals and verifications of coverage.
  • Perform scanning and abstracting duties, obtain patient records from various offices and hospitals as needed.
  • Answer and screen office calls, make patient appointments, take messages, and redirect calls as appropriate.
  • Perform daily business operations, including maintaining and safe-keeping of patient medical records.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; documentation of graduation from an accredited training program preferred.
  • One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting, preferred.
  • Customer Service experience, strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a reasonable expectation of not being exposed to blood-borne pathogens. The physical demands of this position are classified as light work, requiring the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
