Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Acquisition and Financial Specialist in support of HQ USAF and Support Elements. The selected candidate will be responsible for serving as a financial advisor within the SAF/AAO office, responsible for facility and supply acquisition programs and/or program support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate, justify, and/or analyze financial requirements of assigned programs.
  • Develop and implement financial management policies, instructions, and procedures on all matters relating to programming, budgeting, funding, forecasting, and status of funds.
  • Review, analyze, interpret, and implement directives and policy from higher echelons.
  • Participate in the development of system planning objectives by evaluating cost/schedule tradeoffs, budget requirements, etc.
  • Represent the organization at all levels within the government and at contractor/industry sites.
Requirements

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include detailed and in-depth knowledge of the DoD Planning, Programming and Budget System budgeting policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative and financial management systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to analysis of financial data.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition requirements, development, and approval processes.
  • Knowledge of the requirements, techniques, procedures, and practices of generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze data using financial systems to prepare budget estimates, develop alternatives, and make recommendations to resolve budget/funding problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships to gain support for program goals.
