Job Summary:The Family Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing primary and specialty care to patients of all ages, from infants to adults. This includes conducting thorough medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests as needed. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities:- Obtain complete medical histories from patients and/or families.
- Prescribe medications according to therapeutic goals and SWLA protocols.
- Assess, diagnose, implement treatment, evaluate, and monitor patients' health status.
- Perform complete physical examinations on patients.
- Order routine and diagnostic lab and x-ray studies according to standing orders.
- Diagnose acute and chronic illness based on clinical findings, laboratory, and x-ray reports.
- Formulate, initiate, and monitor patient management plans using protocols and/or consultation with a supervising physician.
- Consult with physicians and other members of the healthcare team as necessary.
- Understand and comply with applicable federal/state laws and standards of conduct related to assigned job duties.
- Maintain all patient records to comply with required standards.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or a nurse practitioner program recognized by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
- Hold an advanced or graduate nursing degree or an APRN certification and current with the LSBN requirements for CEU's.
- Hold a current, unencumbered LA license to practice nursing and advanced practice registered nursing.
- Experience in writing policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to relate with effectiveness to employees of the Health Center.
- Critical thinking skills and an ability to work through processes in an objective manner.
- Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.
- Knowledge of Health Center Practice management and EMR platforms.
