Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Purdue University, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to eligible students in collaboration with the Psychiatry Services Director at Counseling and Psychological Services. Your responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic evaluations, providing psychotropic medication management services, and working collaboratively with therapists and care managers to provide comprehensive care to students. You will also engage in regular consultation and collaboration with campus colleagues, such as medical providers at the Purdue Student Health Center, and serve as an educational resource to the campus community.
This is a 9-month, academic year position that offers a unique opportunity to join a cohesive team that works collaboratively and effectively in supporting student success. We value consultation, lifelong learning, and sharing expertise in providing high-quality psychiatric care to students.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly qualified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a Master's or Doctorate NP degree, Indiana NP licensure, and PMHNP-BC certification. You must be eligible for or have current Indiana prescriptive authority and DEA registration. Preferred qualifications include three years or more of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and experience treating college students/young adults. You will also have the ability to conduct psychiatric initial evaluations and follow-up medication management appointments, engage in case conceptualization to inform treatment planning, and make decisions regarding the urgency of treatment needs. Additionally, you will have interest and experience related to diversity, social justice, and advocacy, including knowledge and skills to promote effective engagement with students from diverse backgrounds. You will also have skills and interest in outreach and consultation, knowledge of and adherence to ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice, including confidentiality requirements, independent judgment and discretion, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to function well as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary treatment team.
