Job Summary

The Laboratory Services Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team, performing venipunctures, CLIA-waived testing, and ensuring quality in the laboratory under the direction of the Director of Lab Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens through venipunctures and capillary sticks
  • Process orders, enter test results, and add charges using a EHR
  • Assess the need for improvements or additional staff education using professional judgment
  • Process specimens for reference laboratory or in-house testing
  • Monitor daily temperatures and humidity
  • Float to different locations to draw blood as needed
  • Assist the Director of Lab Services with data entry for quality assurance
Requirements
  • High school or GED required
  • Preferred minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy collection experience
  • Previous experience with CLIA-waived instruments, phlebotomy skills, and specimen processing desired
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills, as well as ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies
  • Completion of phlebotomy course and licensure preferred
