LIFEGUARD II (SEASONAL) – SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE TAHOE SECTOR

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard II to join our team at the Department of Parks & Recreation. As a Lifeguard II, you will be responsible for providing water safety and emergency response services at our parks and recreation areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide water safety and emergency response services to park visitors
• Assist in training and supervising seasonal lifeguards
• Dispatch and lead a group of seasonal lifeguards engaged in lifesaving activities
• Perform first aid and resuscitation procedures as needed
• Notify dispatch of accidents and rescues, prepare reports, and remove hazards
• Assist the public and advise visitors of park rules and regulations
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and visitors

Requirements:

• Valid California Drivers License (CDL)
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and direct sun
• Ability to follow directions, remain alert, and analyze situations accurately
• Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relations
• Ability to communicate effectively

• Preparing written and computer-generated reports

Working Conditions:

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

This position is a 189-day seasonal assignment. Must be available holidays and weekends. The ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and direct sun are required.
