Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard II to join our team at the Department of Parks & Recreation. As a Lifeguard II, you will be responsible for providing emergency response and lifesaving services to park visitors, as well as assisting with training and supervision of seasonal lifeguards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency response and lifesaving services to park visitors
  • Assist with training and supervision of seasonal lifeguards
  • Dispatch and lead a group of seasonal lifeguards engaged in lifesaving activities
  • Perform first aid and resuscitation procedures
  • Notify dispatch of accidents and rescues, prepare reports, and remove hazards
Requirements
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL)
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and direct sun
  • Ability to follow directions, remain alert, and analyze situations accurately
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relations and communicate effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Desirable abilities include communicating effectively with co-workers and visitors, multi-tasking in a fast-paced public contact setting, and following directions
Working Conditions

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license and the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and direct sun. State housing may be required.
