Position Overview
Children International is currently seeking an experienced Financial Operations Manager. This pivotal role involves leading business operations and overseeing the administrative and operational activities related to the management of funds and the accurate recording of all financial transactions within a nonprofit organization that operates with an annual budget exceeding $130 million.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in establishing and monitoring effective procedures, processes, and systems to ensure that the organization’s financial records and statements accurately reflect its financial performance and resources.
- Collaborate closely with key business stakeholders to ensure timely and precise financial reporting while supervising a team of two accountants.
- Develop and implement processes to enhance internal controls and serve as the organization’s primary expert for financial reporting systems.
Specific Duties Include:
- Directing all accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, monthly closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, annual audits, and 990 preparations.
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP for all financial reporting.
- Providing guidance on the optimal configuration and maintenance of the chart of accounts.
- Supporting the development and execution of the annual operating budget.
- Monitoring adherence to local and state regulations.
- Acting as the expert and training coordinator for all financial reporting systems.
- Creating and implementing processes to ensure robust internal controls.
- Collaborating with various departments to meet the organization’s financial reporting needs.
- Conducting analyses and preparing ad hoc reports as required.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA certification is required. Candidates should have over five years of experience in building financial models and monitoring operational effectiveness. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of financial accounting systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus) is expected. Excellent critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills are essential.
