Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist/Technician to join our team at Riverview Health. As a Medical Technologist/Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with customers, including patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, in a positive and professional manner.
  • Cooperate with laboratory staff, nursing, and other departments to ensure accurate test ordering, specimen integrity, and timely results reporting.
  • Evaluate specimen adequacy and perform analytic tests according to standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and procedures, perform daily quality control, troubleshoot, and initiate resolution to quality control problems.
  • Perform instrument maintenance and document maintenance activities.
  • Correlate data, monitor test performance, and results for reasonableness, and document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Recognize critical test results, notify clinicians, and document notification.
  • Investigate pending, delayed, or recollected specimens and communicate with coworkers.
  • Perform proficiency testing according to standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supply inventory and follow laboratory policies and procedures on optimal supply use and storage requirements.
  • Use personal protective equipment in accordance with hospital and laboratory policies.
  • Ability to recognize when operational demands require supervisory intervention.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in a chemical, physical, or biological science and at least one year of full-time laboratory training or experience.
  • Meet the requirements of Testing Personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act '88 (CLIA).
  • MLT (ASCP or AMT) certification or obtain within six months of hire.
