Position Overview:
NorthPoint Search Group Inc is seeking a full-time Senior Systems Software (Safety) Engineer to enhance the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) System Safety Program. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the System Safety Team, delivering specialized Warfare System and System Safety Engineering assistance to the CPS initiative. The ideal applicant should possess a proactive attitude, with the ability to convey intricate technical concepts effectively in both verbal and written communication, work autonomously as well as collaboratively, adhere to deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 7 years focused on Systems Safety.
  • Familiarity with safety programs such as Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC-CA, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), or US Coast Guard initiatives.
  • Experience with the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP).
  • Proficient in database management, computer programming (C and C++), and hazard tracking databases.
  • A formal degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, operational, and engineering support for systems and software engineering teams.
  • Conduct analyses and evaluations of safety risks.
  • Participate in and lead engineering and safety assessments.
  • Perform risk assessment studies with an emphasis on software-related risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Present findings to formal boards, including WSESRB.
  • Analyze System Safety Plans, Safety Management Plans, and safety testing documentation/plans.
  • Research, design, develop, and test software utilized in Department of Defense weapon systems.
  • Employ cutting-edge model-based tools.
  • Examine engineering artifacts associated with system design and development.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional regional travel may be necessary.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support tasks, including potential deployment.

  • US citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must fulfill eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
