Job Summary

Metalico is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing on-road and off-road heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on diesel vehicles and heavy equipment, including material handlers, loaders, excavators, and forklifts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex diesel engine machines, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy machinery, including excavators, forklifts, and skid steers, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Repair, replace, recondition, disassemble, weld, and examine parts and engines, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring efficient use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or managers, supporting the overall goals and objectives of the company.
  • Comply with all company safety measures and government regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and customers, providing professional service and support.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in diesel mechanics, with a strong understanding of heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must have own tools and equipment, with the ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend, and twist as needed, with good physical stamina and endurance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
