Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Music Therapist to join our team at the Michigan State University Community Music School. As a Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing music therapy services to individuals of varying ages and ability levels, promoting physical, cognitive, psychological, and social changes leading to maximum independence.

Responsibilities
  • Therapy: Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate music therapy interventions, collaborating with individuals, their families, and treatment teams to assess, develop treatment plans, and plan music interventions.
  • Administrative: Compile and maintain updated files for each individual, complete required paperwork, and ensure timely submission of treatment plans, progress reports, and billing invoices.
  • Recruitment/Outreach: Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate public relations for the Community Music School to promote music therapy services and programs.
  • Collaborative Participation: Act as a CMS Music Therapy Clinical Services team member, collaborate with CMS staff, and effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and families.
Requirements
  • Music Therapy internship
  • MT-BC (Music Therapist-Board Certified) certification
  • Professional affiliations with AMTA, Great Lakes AMTA, and MMT
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in music therapy preferred
