Job Summary

APluscare LLC is seeking a skilled Music Instructor to join our Day Habilitation team. As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging music programs that promote creativity, self-expression, and personal growth among our individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Create and implement music programs that cater to diverse learning abilities and promote musical skills, rhythm, and melody.
  • Individual and Group Instruction: Provide one-on-one and group music sessions, adapting teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Creativity and Self-Expression: Encourage individuals to explore their creativity through music, singing, playing instruments, and movement, and provide opportunities for them to write songs and create musical compositions.
  • Progress Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate individuals' musical abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of participants' achievements, areas of improvement, and individualized goals.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or equivalent education.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Therapy, or a related field.
  • Skills: Knowledge of various musical instruments, techniques, and genres, patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help individuals explore and enjoy music.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and move freely around the facility, lift and carry musical instruments and equipment, and demonstrate physical holds and restraints.
Training and Certification

All successful candidates must complete the mandatory DDD trainings, including Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Abuse and Neglect, Medication Administration, CPR & First Aid, Agency New Hire Orientation, and Agency's approved training on handling Life-Threatening Emergencies/Danielle's Law.
